My work motto is a quote from E.F. Schumacher in which he says that any intelligent fool can make things bigger and more complex… it takes a touch of genius and a lot of courage to move in the opposite direction. At Booleans you get the space for this and you can really deliver quality.
When did you start working at Booleans?
After Rob and Joost had founded Booleans in 2018, I was the first employee that came to support them – as Senior Identity Solutions Specialist – in February 2019.
Why did you choose to start working at Booleans?
That is a funny story. I was looking for a new job and had deliberately avoided Booleans, even though I already knew Rob from my network. I was looking for a direct employer with its own products to remove the complexity that I had previously experienced between employer, customer, and myself. From earlier experience I noticed that these three parties can have conflicting interests at the expense of my job satisfaction and work/life balance. After having some conversations at larger organizations, I was approached by a recruiter. He heard me out on why I rejected the vacancy he approached me for, and based on that thought suggested that I talk to Booleans. In the end, Booleans turned out to have the culture in which I feel comfortable. Booleans has a flat organization with short communication lines, where there is room for open discussions, and I can easily connect with like-minded colleagues. I did not find this at large organizations where I consciously left due to the organizational sluggishness and unwillingness to innovate. At Booleans you are a person, not a number.
What are your responsibilities at Booleans?
With my 10+ years of experience I help customers in the field of identification and authorization of internal employees and external customers. Also, I am specialized in federated identifications (DigiD, eHerkenning and eIDAS).
What are typical characteristics for Booleans and its team?
Transparency, fun and enthusiasm for technical specialization. We regularly have passionate conversations and discussions about the work we do as real ‘nerds’.
What keeps you here?
The company culture and the good work/life balance. Also, the space and freedom you get. At Booleans you are not in a straitjacket.
What would you like to tell job seekers who are considering working for Booleans?
At Booleans you will find appreciation on a personal level and the employment conditions are very good. In addition, it is a flat organization, you are free to express your opinion, and this is received with enthusiasm. Everyone is heard and respected. An ideal company culture for me and perhaps also for job seekers who are looking for a place where everyone talks full of passion about Digital Security and works passionately in the field of Digital Security.
